The Sails Nelson Environmental Policy

The Sails Nelson is in the heart of the beautiful coastal city of Nelson at the top of the South Island in New Zealand. The management and staff of The Sails Nelson strive to provide a spotlessly clean environment, using nature friendly products including natural fibres providing maximum comfort in our carpeting, bedding, luxurious decor and furnishings. We strive to exceed your expectations of The Sails whist minimising the complex's impact on the environment. We value and respect this beautiful country and its clean green image and as such we consider it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to assist in retaining this image for future generations.

Thus by building and fitting the latest products and systems, ensures we can efficiently use power, water, fuel, office products and other resources to reduce any impact on our clean and green environment without compromising our guests comfort.

Steps taken at The Sails Nelson to reduce the impact on the environment of Nelson and of Aotearoa, New Zealand

  • No plastic tube amenities
  • No plastic bin liners
  • Tea pot, loose leaf and fruit tea for tea lovers
  • We recycle our waste - cans, plastic and glass bottles, paper products and cardboard.
  • Where possible natural fibres and materials have been used throughout The Sails.
  • Guests are asked to consider re-using bathroom linen on consecutive days by hanging your used towels on the bathroom towel rail rather than requesting fresh daily linen during your daily service. Your bed linen will be changed after your 3rd night's reservation.
  • We are fully insulated, and double glazed to maintain and absorb natural heat and reduce noise pollution.
